Ryan Phillippe will host the April 17 edition of Saturday Night Live, with musical guest Ke$ha, according to a source at the show.

Best known for his roles in Cruel Intention and Crash, Phillippe is making his SNL debut. The booking had been timed to coincide with his latest release—the SNL feature-length spinoff MacGruber—before Universal Pictures’ recent decision to push the film’s opening from April 23 to May 21.

Pop singer Ke$ha also makes her inaugural SNL appearance. Her debut album, Animal, was no. 1 on U.S. charts in January.

As always, guest listings are subject to change until confirmed by the reassuring voice of Don Pardo.

Most artists would scoff at being labelled a “one-hit wonder”, but American pop star Ke$ha doesn’t mind if that’s all she achieves and says she’s making the most of her time in the limelight.

Famous for her breakthrough hit Tik Tok, Ke$ha admits her time at the top of the charts may be fleeting.

“Worst-case scenario I am a one-hit wonder, how many people can say that?” she told The Sunday Telegraph just before scuba-diving in a shark tank at Manly Oceanworld yesterday.

“I hope I am a many-hit wonder, but at least I’ve got one.”

The singer is in Sydney for a week-long promotional visit, which will see her perform a free show at a Take 40 Live event at The Entertainment Quarter on Tuesday night.

She denied fresh US reports of sex tapes showing the singer in a compromising position with an unidentified male: “It’s not me.“

Taio Cruz may not be a household name yet in the United States, but that should change soon. The British pop/R&B singer recently broke a Billboard record when his single “Break Your Heart” (featuring Ludacris) jumped 52 places from its debut position to the #1 spot on the Hot 100 chart. (…)

Cruz released his second album in the U.K., Rockstarr, last year, and now has his sights set on the States. Also impressive is the fact that he has songwriting game, a talent that has recently seen him penning tracks for a couple of artists you may recognize. (…)

And while the video for “Break Your Heart” had him poolside and on a speedboat in the ocean, the video for his upcoming single “Dirty Picture” features Ke$ha, so you know they had to make things a bit grittier.

“The video is looking amazing. We’ve got her performing in a public bathroom, which is quite entertaining,” Cruz chuckled. The setting is an underground basement with folks having a good time and Ke$ha being, well, Ke$ha-y.

“Yeah, she’s crazy. She’s cool. She’s not like a mad person — she doesn’t have, like, any kind of censor on what she wants to say. When she wants to say something she just says it and then it’s so much fun. We just had a great time on the set of the video and she’s just an amazing performer and artist.”

Rockstarr is set for a May 18 release, with “Dirty Picture” hitting radio most likely in June. If you can’t wait that long, you will find Cruz with the electronic music fans descending upon Miami’s Winter Music Conference 2010.

On Wednesday night, Ke$ha, along with her pals 3OH!3, hit the “American Idol” stage with their song “Blah Blah Blah.” The performance included dancing with TV heads and Ke$ha donning a Native American headdress while bouncing around the stage.

How does Ke$ha think the performance went?

“Well, I never really know, but I think it went pretty well from what I’ve heard from family members and friends and stuff,” she told MTV News via phone Thursday (March 18). ” … I think it came across like we were just having a good time onstage, like, just playing dress-up. And I was kind of making an ass of myself at the end, but whatever. I was having a good time. I hope it was infectious.”
