| Ke$ha Show Will Go On… Just Not At The Seaport |

Yesterday word got out that the remaining Paper magazine concerts at the Seaport would not be happening, following their free concert last week featuring Drake and Hanson—which ended in a riot before any notes were played by either band. The shows, including one by Ke$ha, will go on, however—just at a different venue. In a statement we received last night, they announced:
“Paper Magazine and The South Street Seaport were excited about the prospect of providing free outdoor concerts from some of today’s top-charting music artists. However, since it was demonstrated that the escalating popularity of the scheduled artists can result in crowds that exceed even the safe capacity of the Pier 17 concert stage, both Paper Magazine and The South Street Seaport have decided that the remaining events of the ‘Sounds like Paper’ concert series will be relocated. The separate and long-running events of the Seaport music festival will continue as scheduled without change.”
They’ve yet to announce where the shows will be moved, and the NY Times notes that a new stage may not have been secured yet; a rep for Ke$ha’s label said that as of yesterday they had not been informed about a new location. Let’s just hope there’s room for her astronaut dancers.

| Ke$ha Barred from Performing at South Street Seaport After Drake Riot |

Ke$ha will not be allowed to perform in the South Street Seaport this summer.
The owners of the Seaport said they pulled the plug on the pop singer’s free performance because the sponsor, Paper Magazine, did such a poor job of planning the free Drake/Hanson concert in the Seaport last week that ended in a riot.
Chaos erupted at the June 15 concert when more than twice as many Drake and Hanson fans as Paper Magazine expected packed onto Pier 17. The crowd grew angry when rapper Drake was late, and people started throwing bottles and chairs. The NYPD cancelled the concert and blamed the riot on Paper Magazine.
That concert was supposed to be the first in a three-part series in the Seaport sponsored by Paper, called “Sounds Like Paper.” Ke$ha was slated to perform in the second concert, though the date had not been announced.

Since her album debuted at No. 1 in January, pop superstar and Nashville resident Ke$ha has spent much of this year basking in global fame. But tonight, she gets to put the focus back on rebuilding her hometown. She’s headlining her own Nashville flood relief concert at Limelight Nashville tonight, with 100 percent of profits going to help flood victims.
“I’m really in the position finally to help in a big way, which is to me one of the biggest upsides of the whole fame thing,” Ke$ha told The Tennessean Tuesday afternoon.
“Really, the only part of celebrity culture I take seriously is the fact that I am going to get to reach a lot of people about something this serious, that a lot of people need to be aware of.”
