A custom guitar made by a local craftsman will be used by singer Kesha on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.

Yuman Rick Johnson owns two guitar lines, one called Johnson Guitars USA and the other Stremel Guitars USA. He has designed one-of-a-kind instruments for big names such as Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Night Ranger, Jimmy Buffet, Alabama and now Kesha.

Kesha, a break-out artist who has three top 20 songs, including the No. 1 hit “TiK ToK,” will use a guitar made by Johnson shaped like an assault rifle.

“It is a spectacular guitar,” Johnson said. “It has Roman candles, bottle rockets, surface-to-air rockets with autographs and flamethrowers. Kesha… might be shooting flames off on television. We sent that thing next day air from Yuma to New York. It left here Thursday at 2 o’clock.”

Ke$ha plans to storm the “Saturday Night Live” stage this weekend, and while it’s an exciting time for her, the singer has copped to feeling jittery about the high-profile performance.

“It’s really nerve-racking,” she told MTV News on Thursday during a rehearsal break. “The first time I stood on [the stage], I kinda felt like I was going to throw up in my mouth a little bit, but then I didn’t, so that was awesome.”

Ke$ha will sing her chart-topping “Tik Tok” and her latest single and video, “Your Love Is My Drug”, on “SNL.” “Just practicing a few times [now], I’m feeling a little more comfortable,” she said of the live performance. “It’s definitely an honor.”

Asked whether she knew what she might wear, Ke$ha played coy. “I do know! All I have to say is that it might be really awesome,” she teased. “Actually, I’m pretty sure it is.”

Ryan Phillippe, who stars in the “SNL” sketch-turned-film “MacGruber,” will handle the hosting duties the night Ke$ha performs. The singer has her fingers crossed for the chance to star with the actor in a skit. “We bonded. You can say that,” she laughed. “I mean, that would be ideal. I hope that happens.”

She even had a sketch in mind. “Well, they’re top-secret, so I can’t tell you,” she said. “But one idea was someone recently told me I smell like shrimp in a diaper, so I thought I could do a perfume skit about me with my eau de perfume being a shrimp in a diaper. It’s very sensual.”

Ke$ha doesn’t just speak in italics, with the emphasis always hers—she lives her life that way. Born Kesha Rose Sebert in California’s San Fernando Valley, the 23-year-old singer first earned notice last year as the hook girl on rapper Flo Rida’s hit “Right Round.” But she exploded in her own right with her debut solo single, the postmodern electro-pop time bomb “TiK ToK,” which became the first monster song of the new decade, reaching the top of the charts in nine countries. In fact, not even Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie’s remake of “We Are the World,” which debuted at number two, could overtake “TiK ToK”—quite an accomplishment for a song in which the narrator opines about brushing her teeth “with a bottle of Jack” and “boys trying to touch my junk.”

Ryan Phillippe hosts an all-new SNL 4/17 with musical guest, Ke$ha.

I’ve uploaded new high quality candids of Ke$ha arriving at JFK Airport in New York City yesterday on April 14, thanks to Rogger. She was flying in from Los Angeles to attend the “Saturday Night Live” rehearsals and show.

Last week it was announced that Rihanna would be taking Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha on her Last Girl on Earth Tour this summer. But just days after the announcement was made, the Young Money rapper said that she wouldn’t be able to hit the road after all, citing the fact that she wanted to focus on recording her debut album.

When MTV News caught up with Ke$ha at rehearsals for “Saturday Night Live” where she’s this week’s musical guest, the “Tik Tok” singer had no idea about Minaj’s plans.

“I hadn’t heard that. Is that true? Oh, that’s a bummer,” she said. “I have no idea why and I hadn’t even heard that, but that’s a bummer.” She went on to say she had to think for a while about who she’d like to see replace Minaj on the tour. “I’ll get my wheels turning. I wasn’t aware of that, but I’ll totally think about it. I mean, I’m just so excited to be on the same stage as Rihanna. She’s obviously an incredible performer, singer, woman. So that tour’s going to be so much fun.”

But what should fans expect from her set on the tour? Well, apparently, costumes made of laser beams. “I want to wear a lot of laser beams,” Ke$ha said. “Oh, you’ll see [how I'll do that], honey!”

And much like her debut album Animal, she said her show will be one big party. “It definitely is going to have, like, a dance-party vibe,” she explained. “I just want it to be really, really fun. Let’s just say I can’t disclose, but I have, like, a really, really awesome thing that’s going to happen … and you can only understand it if you see it in person.”

Ke$ha is currently prepping for her stint as musical guest on this week’s “Saturday Night Live,” when “MacGruber” star Ryan Phillippe hosts the show. And while Ke$ha is known for her wild pop-star persona, she has yet to show the world her comedy chops. So will the “Tik Tok” singer be able to flex her comic muscle on Saturday night?

“I have some ideas. I don’t know … it hasn’t been confirmed or denied yet [if I'll appear in a sketch], so I can’t say for sure. But I would love to do something funny,” she revealed to MTV News on Thursday (April 15) during show rehearsals.

Although she’s still unsure if she will actually appear in a sketch, she did pitch some ideas to “SNL” writers. “Well, they’re top-secret, so I can’t tell you,” she teased. “But one idea was someone recently told me I smell like shrimp in a diaper, so I thought I could do a perfume skit about me with my eau de perfume being a shrimp in a diaper. Ke$ha would also love the opportunity to appear in at least one sketch with Phillippe. “We bonded. You can say that,” she laughed. “I mean, that would be ideal [to star in a sketch together]. I hope that happens.”

It’s not always easy to get up there and be funny on “SNL,” and Ke$ha hopes to score some time with Andy Samberg to ask for advice. “I just met Andy and that was awesome,” she said. “But we didn’t really get to chat yet.”
