She angered fictional parents in her “Tik Tok” video, pranced around with the boys of 3OH!3 in her “Blah Blah Blah” clip and frolicked with a bearded boyfriend in an animated desert for her “Your Love Is My Drug” video. It might seem like Ke$ha had already done it all, but she ups the ante again in her latest clip.
In photos from the singer’s “Take It Off” video set, she’s seen wearing really, really short shorts, a white fur coat and even rocking super-high platforms while posing on a motorcycle. And Ke$ha even returns to the desert, joined by a number of dancers in the sand.
For the video, it looks like Ke$ha ditched her signature waves for straightened locks, a look that is more polished than we’re used to seeing from the party-girl pop star. But, of course, Ke$ha is keeping it dirrrty by including some face paint and covering herself in the aforementioned sand.
Ke$ha’s debut album Animal has sold over 784-thousand copies since its release back in January. The singer will be opening for Rihanna on her Last Girl on Earth Tour, which kicks off tomorrow night, and our favorite hot mess is really looking forward to the tour.
“Rihanna’s (tour is) gonna be so insane. It’s gonna be so fun. It’s like a two month long dance party with like hot babes everywhere and like just fun times and lasers and, you know, good songs.” Ke$ha also spoke about what fans can expect from her shows with Rihanna…
“I really want, like, when people come to my show, I want them to kind of be like, ‘Wow, I just went to like, this like, party’ not like a musical show where you sit down and watch. I want people to feel involved. Um…and hopefully leave covered in sweat and glitter, and maybe beer and, you know, hopefully on a mission to get laid afterwards. I hope I can inspire people to want to get laid.”
When Ke$ha begins a national tour with Rihanna on Friday, she’ll aim to prove two things: 1) that she’s truly the raucous good-time girl depicted in her smash singles, and 2) that she’s a serious artist, deserving of respect.
Conflicting goals? Ke$ha, 23, doesn’t see it that way. “I’m really fun,” she says. “I’m ridiculously fun. I hope I’m infectiously fun.”
Certainly, chart-topping hits such as Your Love Is My Drug (No. 4 on USA TODAY’s top 40 airplay chart) and her still-ubiquitous breakthrough, TiK ToK — on which Ke$ha, in the singsong rap that has become her trademark, cheekily boasts of brushing her teeth with Jack Daniel’s — suggest as much.
Ke$ha, who burst on the scene with the drunken party anthem “TiK ToK,” wants you to take her seriously.
Seriously.
The pop singer, who is one of the year’s top-selling artists and arguably the most successful newcomer, hasn’t been recognized for her artistic talents. Instead, she’s been bashed for what some see as her vapid lyrical content and party-girl vibe.
But the 23-year-old thinks she has been misrepresented.
“I’m responsible. I wouldn’t have a No. 1 record or song if I wasn’t a hardworking person,” she said in a recent interview backstage before a festival performance.
Serial trashbag Ke$ha is desperate to date Nova producer Tom Ivey, after admitting a fetish for Russell Brand look-a-likes.
The outspoken singer recently revealed her left-of-centre taste in men to This Is London.
“I could not bear to go out with a guy who takes longer than me to get ready. I don’t want someone who’s going to steal my moisturiser,” she explained while describing her perfect man.
“My ideal man would be funny and fat with a beard. I love fat men. I like real men… I like a funny man, though. Russell Brand’s not quite my type, but if he had a fat, bearded friend, that would be perfect.”
Funnily enough, Nova has just the bloke for her.
Ryan, Monty and Wippa producer Tom Ivey is regularly mistaken for Russell Brand and even received lessons on how to be more Brand-like from the man himself!
The boys of 3OH!3 keep it pretty simple in their music. Their songs rock like Def Lep, rap like Run-D.M.C. and have beats even the most “Jersey Shore” phobic among us could beat up. But what about the men behind the music? Well, you’ve come to the right place, it’s the Buzzworthy exclusive Q&A with Boulder’s baddest, 3OH!3.
In this chat, Nathaniel and Sean talk about working with both Katy Perry and Ke$ha and how the two new-pop queens differ. They mention a meeting of the celebratory minds between themselves and Andrew W.K. And they also give some details about the Boulder dance scene and how it shaped them and their music.
Check out the Q&A, as well as 3OH!3′s video for its new single, “My First Kiss,” taken from its new album, Streets Of Gold, which came out today.
The Blah Blah Blah singer — who is currently single — admits she has a less-than-traditional taste in men and can’t stand the thought of dating someone too well-groomed.
“My ideal man would be funny and fat with a beard. I love fat men. I like real men,” she said. “I don’t like really feminine men who tan. I don’t understand that. I like a funny man, though.
“Russell Brand’s not quite my type, but if he had a fat, bearded friend, that would be perfect.”
The outspoken 23-year-old star also admitted her biggest turn off would be to date someone who spends longer in the bathroom than she does.
“I could not bear to go out with a guy who takes longer than me to get ready. I don’t want someone who’s going to steal my moisturizer,” she said.
Though she has a lengthy list of specifications for a partner, the star insists she isn’t ready to settle down just yet.
“I’m far from lonely. Far, far from it. But I don’t want to settle down yet,” she said. “Gross!”
In case you haven’t heard by now, pop sensation Ke$ha is one of three musical acts featured on three separate covers of PAPER’s Summer Music Issue (collect them all!). M$. Tik-Tok herself was was kind of enough to sit down with PAPERTV at her photo shoot to discuss Narwhals, her plans to tattoo Rihanna and explains her bejeweled teeth. She also takes a stab at freestyling and should probably not count on a future career into hip-hop. No matter, we still think she’s great. Watch it all above.
Ke$ha made her primetime debut on tonight’s episode of The City.
She popped into our offices to be photographed by Thomas Whiteside for this month’s Rihanna-covered ELLE, the Women in Music issue, and worked with Joe Zee on a “trash couture” theme.
What does that mean exactly? We asked Joe to explain: “She loved the idea of looking like Brigitte Bardot after she’d been f&$%ed and rifled through the trash!”
But before you get any bright ideas about trying out this look in real life, he warned, “I think Ke$ha has “rock star style.” Is it for every young girl? No! But certainly for someone who’s not afraid to be daring and head-turning in her look.”
For further clarification of just what that look is, click through for outtakes from Ke$ha’s shoot with Whiteside.
