UNUSUAL FAME, OUT OF THE BLUE: Ke$ha becomes the 11th solo female to collect at least four Billboard Hot 100 top 10s from a debut album in the chart’s 52-year history, as “Take It Off,” from her introductory set “Animal,” prowls 16-10.
The 23-year-old pop singer-songwriter previously spent nine weeks atop the Hot 100 beginning in the Jan. 2 issue with “TiK ToK.” Follow-up “Blah Blah Blah,” featuring 3OH!3, debuted and peaked at No. 7 three weeks later – when “Animal” debuted atop the Billboard 200 – and “Your Love Is My Drug” rose to No. 4 in June. (Ke$ha’s Hot 100 discography includes an additional top 10, although 3OH!3′s “My First Kiss,” on which she guests, appears on the band’s album “Streets of Gold.” The song reached No. 9 in May).

APPROVED ‘DRUG’: Ke$ha banks her first No. 1 on Dance/Club Play Songs, as “Your Love Is My Drug” rises 3-1.
The singer previously reached No. 11 on the list with her maiden entry “TiK ToK” and No. 37 with “Blah Blah Blah,” featuring 3OH!3.
“Your Love Is My Drug” is the third song this year to crown Dance/Club Play Songs and Mainstream Top 40 (where it reigned for two weeks in June). Lady Gaga’s “Telephone,” featuring Beyonce, ascended to No. 1 in February and Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” reached the summit in May.
Six songs topped both lists in 2009 after just one title – Rihanna’s “Disturbia” – led Dance/Club Play Songs and Mainstream Top 40 in 2008. The elevated total of shared No. 1s in 2009-10 thus suggests a surge in popularity for dance music on pop radio.
Who may deserve the highest share of praise for the dance genre’s increased profile on mainstream top 40 airwaves? Of the nine No. 1s on both charts since last year, five belong to Lady Gaga.

ADDICTED TO ‘LOVE’: Ke$ha becomes the fifth female artist since the beginning of 2000, and the third in the last two years, to earn at least two No. 1s from a debut album on Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart, as “Your Love Is My Drug,” the third single from “Animal,” lifts 2-1.
All charts on billboard.com will be refreshed Thursday.
Ke$ha spent seven weeks atop Pop Songs beginning in February with her introductory single, “TiK ToK.” Follow-up “Blah Blah Blah,” featuring 3OH!3, peaked at No. 11 in March. (Ke$ha returns the favor, guesting on 3OH!3′s “My First Kiss,” which rises 29-26 this week).

Ke$ha this week becomes the first “lead artist” to sell 1 million or more copies of three songs in 2010. “Your Love Is My Drug” tops the 1 million mark in paid downloads this week. “TiK ToK” and “Blah Blah Blah” (featuring 3OH!3) have also sold more than 1 million copies this year. Ludacris has also sold 1 million or more copies of three songs in 2010, but he was the lead artist on just one of those entries (“How Low”). He was the featured artist on Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and Taio Cruz’s “Break Your Heart.”
Ke$ha re-teams with 3OH!3 on the new “My First Kiss,” but this time 3OH!3 has top billing and she is the featured artist. The song sold 190,000 copies this week and enters Hot Digital Songs at #4.

Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” holds off the impressive arrival of charity single “We Are the World 25: For Haiti” by Artists for Haiti to remain at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a ninth consecutive week.
“TiK ToK” has now persevered over a pair of No. 2-debuting songs during its No. 1 run. Just three weeks ago, Taylor Swift’s “Today Was a Fairytale” opened in the runner-up slot. Meanwhile, Ke$ha’s second single “Blah Blah Blah,” featuring 3OH!3 is the Hot 100′s Digital Gainer (up 35,000 downloads) and jumps 22-11.
“We Are the World 25: For Haiti’s” arrival pushes the Black Eyed Peas’ “Imma Be” down 2-3, while Young Money’s “BedRock” featuring Lloyd holds solid at No. 4, as does Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” at No. 5. (…)
