Ke$ha has more stories than Teddy Ruxpin. The sassy LA pop singer, 22, broke into Prince’s mansion, threw up in Paris Hilton’s closet, sang background for Britney Spears and became BFFs with Katy Perry — all before landing a record deal. The only thing she didn’t do is change the Hollywood sign to read “ Ke$hawood” — that was just a video.
Once producer Dr. Luke (Ciara, Pink) stopped laughing at Ke$ha’s wannabe rap skills, he sent her into the studio with Flo Rida to provide the sung hook for “Right Round,” which went on to break the first-week single sales record. Her debut album, “Animal,” reached the top of the iTunes album chart, and her lead single, “Tik Tok,” has spent weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Digital charts. The Post talked with Ke$ha about her crazy rise to the top.
* Purple Rain “I know people who know people who knew Prince’s home address. One day I paid the gardener to let me in after I was unable to sneak under the fence. I figured the side door being unlocked was an invitation to enter. I found him jamming in a room with his band. His assistant grilled me for a while, and then I dropped a demo I made for him wrapped in a purple bow on the floor and ran out of the house. I felt it was harmless at the time, but looking back it was pretty psychotic.”
* A Trip to Paris “I was invited back to [Hilton’s] LA pad for a party because I had done background vocals on her song “Nothing in This World.” I was mixing tons of alcohol and felt like I was going to get sick. I honestly thought I stumbled into her bathroom, but it was her closet. I can’t believe I ralphed on Paris’ shoes.”
* She’s Not Money “I didn’t put the dollar sign in my name to look tough — it’s actually a joke. Me and my family have basically been broke our entire life. I never even made a dime off the “Right Round” song, and that broke so many download records. I’ve always had to search for money to buy food, fix my car and whatever else came up.”
* ‘Watch’ Your Step “I feel like I worked on “Tik Tok” forever. It’s about hot chicks going out to the clubs, staying up late and running things. It’s a girls-night-out anthem. That song is directly influenced by my absolute love for the Beastie Boys and Blondie.”
* She’s a Beast “The title of my album is ‘Animal’ because I am one. I live in the jungle, and I follow my instincts. My mom told me once when we couldn’t afford food to go out and take what I wanted . . . I listened.”
* BACKING BRITNEY “I never got to meet [Spears] when I did background vocals for her song “Lace and Leather” [laughs]. No, she definitely wasn’t crazy anymore at the point . . . she was doing very, very well.”
